     Ms. Terry Stonom

Terry Stonom was born as the result of the love between her parents, George Williams and Lavinia Nicholas in 1961. Her upbringing was surrounded by the arts and spirituality. At an early age she was introduced to the dance as her village participated in the country’s Best Village Competition and because of her love for the Arts, Ms. Stonom continued her education in that field. Ms. Stonom has been actively involved in Dance and theater for the past fifty (50) years in the United States and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. She studied and performed with the countries renowned groups such as, the Carlton Francis Dance Theater, Eugene Douglas Dance Troup, the Malik Folk Performers under the leadership of Mr. Charles Guilauime, and the Trinidad & Tobago Folk Performers under Ms. Allison Browne. In addition to performances with these groups, Ms. Stonom has performed in many productions including the St. Babbs Best Village Performers, North-West Laventille Folk Group, Trou-Macaque/Laventille Folk Group for the Trinidad and Tobago’s Best Village Folk Competitions. Her performances and choreography include a wide range of dance genres: Bongo, Bele’, Calypso, Limbo, East Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Stick, Moco-Jumbie, Pique, Ballet, Liturgical and various genres of African dances. She has served as a Dance Instructor to the Morvant/Laventille Junior Secondary School,Trou-Macaque/Laventille Village, St. Roses Government School and choreograph pieces for numerous individuals. She served as the choreographer for the Mount Bethel Cultural Arts Center, a position she has held from the program’s inception. Presently, Ms. Stonom is the Instructor/Choreographer for the Mount Bethel Liturgical Dance Ministry. She is the mother of three (3) children, Kerron, Jameelah and Kenndrah and the grand mother of three boys. Ms. Stonom is currently employed at the Mount Bethel Christian Academy originally as the Office Secretary and presently as the Administrative Assistant.
